Lambert

The Lambert equivalent cylindrical projection is a geometric projection from the polar axis of the celestial sphere onto a cylinder which is tangential to the celestial sphere at the equator. The projection proceeds normally to the polar axis. It is used, for example, by the IRAS Galactic Plane images. It is an equal area projection (i.e. all image pixels cover the same area on the sky, but have different shapes in different parts of the image).
