The 1990 machine-readable version of the SAO star catalogue is the source of star data. The evaluation version of SKYMAP(PC) comes with stars to magnitude 7; the commercial version of the program is supplied with the complete SAO catalogue of stars - this is reasonably complete down to magnitude 9.5.
The commercial version of SKYMAP(PC) can also display stars (and other objects) read from the GSC CD-ROM database.
